Although NYC-based photographer Ian Lewandowski and Indianapolis-based writer Taylor Lewandowski share the same surname, they are not actually related. The fact that both men also grew up in the state of Indiana only makes this coincidence more striking.

For this collaboration, Taylor responded to a body of Ian’s photography with a work of original fiction. outline(s) - his elegant (and elegaic) short story - centers around an inter-generational conversation between the characters Sam, Faith and Hiram, and limns the uniquely midwestern context that Ian’s photographs also seek to describe. Folded into Taylor’s writing are a variable suite of three of Ian’s photographs, printed on a heavy orange cardstock.

outline(s) was created to accompany Red Hot Ingot, Ian Lewandowski’s solo exhibition at The Weather Station in Lafayette, Indiana.
